THE BLACK CROWES OFFER FANS FREE CHRISTMAS SONG: December 9, 2005 When the reunited Black Crowes returned to the studio for the first time in nearly five years, it wasn't to work on material for a new album. The group recorded "Back Door Santa," an original holiday song that it's giving away to fans via its official Web site. Billboard.com found the link to the free MP3 via a post from the band on the site's message board. The soulful romp with a decidedly Stax-inspired sound was produced by George Drakoulias, who produced the band's last studio set, 2001's "Lions." As previously reported, the Black Crowes will ring in New Year by headlining New York's Madison Square Garden. The show will also feature sets by My Morning Jacket and the North Mississippi Allstars.
