GLENN HUGHES AND JOE LYNN TURNER TEAM UP AGAIN: Deep Purple Alumni Glenn Hughes & Joe Lynn Turner team up with Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Steve Vai (Frank Zappa/Whitesnake) on "HTP2" "HTP2" is the abbreviation for "Hughes Turner Project Two." After much success with both their debut studio effort "HTP" and the "HTP: Live In Tokyo" follow up, Glenn Hughes and Joe Lynn Turner (JLT) have released their second studio CD, "HTP2," in the USA (Shrapnel Records). A nearly sold out European tour combined with phenomenal USA press feedback and radio airplay demanded that Hughes and Turner give Americans more HTP ASAP! HTP is a milestone in rock music history as two legendary ex-DEEP PURPLE vocalists--- from two different generations of Deep Purple---combine their singing and writing talent in one endeavor. It's rare that an offering by any group showcases lead vocals by more than one singer. "HTP2" features double harmonies by both Turner and Hughes as well as 2 tracks apiece that highlight each of them exclusively. Drummer Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) and guitarist Steve Vai (Frank Zappa/Whitesnake) also contribute on "HTP2" which has been described by as "Classic blues rock steeped in a variety of modern sounds. Classic, yet modern. Mainstream, but alternative." The twelve "HTP2" tracks include the Smith and Vai infused "Losing My Head" and the modern sounding "Revelation" and "Alone I Breathe." Turner humorously describes "HTP2" as, "The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Audioslave meet in Deep Purple’s dressing room." There is also a potential adult contemporary radio hit in "Time and Time Again" as well as the progressive epic "Let’s Talk About It Later." HTP plans to tour Japan and Europe in 2004. Who are Glenn Hughes and Joe Lynn Turner? Most Deep Purple fans associate Glenn with the blistering classic, "Burn," a song that still enjoys a generous amount of AOR/Classic Rock radio air-play. Hughes was also one of the Deep Purple singers who performed with the band at the California Jam in the early 70s---the biggest concert in America since Woodstock [at the time]. Aside from his stint in Deep Purple, JLT is often remembered for his work with Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow from 1980- 1984 and Yngwie Malmsteen from 1987-1989. His visage was all over MTV as he belted out classics like "Stone Cold," "Street of Dreams" and lit up the channel's "Headbanger's Ball" with the videos that he made with Malmsteen and Purple.
