History:
From the Great White North of Toronto, Ontario comes Sonic X, a band that plays well crafted melodic hard
rock music in the same vein as bands like Skid Row.
The origins of Sonic X began in high school where the rhythm section of Joseph Cumbo (bass) and
Michael Marquez (drums) quickly befriended each other and joined forces in a local cover band called
Aftermath. Guitarist Lawrence Falcomer was soon recruited but the group soon fell into limbo when
Falcomer headed south to Los Angeles to study at the Guitar Institute of Technology. Upon the guitarist's
return to Toronto the trio hooked-up once again with a new vocalist and renamed themselves L.A.
The final piece of the Sonic X puzzle appeared when Triumph's Gil Moore encouraged
Cumbo to go to Florida and check out Rage Of Angels singer Adam Troy. After viewing Troy
onstage Cumbo knew he was what L.A. needed to reach the next level. Troy agreed to relocate
to Canada and the group began working on new material. When the guys reemerged to showcase their new front man
they decided to change their moniker from L.A. to Zara White. However Zara White was short
lived and the group went on hiatus while members focused on other projects.
Their time apart was brief however and the group soon reformed in 2004 and was working together once
again. This time they would be known as Sonic X and when Mladen from the band Barlow heard
their demos he convinced them to contact Z Records, a record label that quickly signed them. On November 3rd, 2004
Sonic X's debut album hit the shelves garnering rave reviews among the hard rock fans. The group followed
the debut release with Thirteen, on new label Chavis Records in 2007.
