History:
Mr. Nasty is a little known sleaze band that comes across as a heavier version
of Faster Pussycat, not far removed from bands such as Spread Eagle.
Formed in New York in late 1988, the earliest lineup featured ex-Grimm
Jack guitarists Scott Bittner and Rich Daly and Tabitha's
rhythm section of Tom (Moog) Coleman (bass) and Monti Monroe (drums).
With Dee Dee Sweet on vocals the group was ready to start recording, and early
demos generated good press both in America and Europe landing the boys a record deal.
Doug Banx of the Rock City Angels had replaced Daly before
recording of the debut began. With the release of .38 Caliber Kisses and its
single/video "Kandyluv", the band was ready to set the world on fire, but instead it
came to a screeching halt due to bad decisions and lawyers in late 1991.
However the split was short-lived, and in 1992 Sweet and Bittner
reformed the band with new members Raven Blackwell (TC Kross on bass) and Michael
Sivo (Roulette/LoveMaker on drums). It was this lineup that would
record the three song EP The Fine Art Of Self Destruction that they made available
only at live gigs. But once again, with several close calls with labels, by the end of
the year Mr. Nasty had dissolved again.
Mr. Nasty would occasionally reform over the years, and reissue their
two releases, before reuniting in 2003. This time it would be Sweet, Bittner
Moog and new drummer Steve Stavros. A new album titled Ain't Dead Yet and promotional
tour dates happened in 2005, meaning we haven't heard the last of Mr. Nasty yet!
