MAYDAY
Formed 1980, U.S.A.

Albums:
1981 Mayday
1982 Revenge

History:
A pop-metal band that sounds like a rough version of Journey crossed with Krokus style vocals.
Formed in the early 80's in New York from the ashes of Sun who recorded a tune for the Live At The Rats compilation. The band consisted of Steve Johnstad (vocals), Randy Fredrix (guitar), Charles Mas (bass) and David Beck (keyboards). Their debut featured precision rocking mixed with Fredrix' new-wave leanings. The album also included a killer cover of Starz' "So Young So Bad."
Before recording of Revenge, they replaced Beck with a full-time drummer named Danny Shmitt. However this record also failed commercially and the band soon broke up. Fredrix would be the most noticeable member since the split, appearing with R&B legend Chaka Khan.
