History:
Katmandu was a short lived, low impact super group who's one and only album was
ridiculed for sounding too much like Great White, failing to establish its own
identity.
Formed in Los Angeles by one time Fastway vocalist Dave King
and ex-Krokus, Cobra and Asia guitarist Mandy Meyer, the
two rounded out the band with Caine Carruthers (bass, The Untouchables)
and Mike Alonso (drums, The Meanies). A major label album was released, but
it and the singles "The Way You Make Me Feel" and "When The Rain Comes" failed to make
any commercial impact.
After the release of the debut, all went silent (except in Japan where the
group has some minor success), and by 1992 the band had broken up. Very little was
heard from the members until King
resurfaced as the front man for the drunken Celtic rock band Flogging Molly and
Meyer joined rockers Gotthard. Katmandu had potential, but weren't
given the time to mature into the great band they could have been.
