History:
A group of childhood friends, Collision perfected their craft for years before
releasing their dark, sludgy and heavily Led Zeppelin influenced harmonies onto
the general public.
Nik Chinboukas (vocals/guitar), Gustavo J. Vitureira (bass)
and Alex Kyriazis (drums) toiled in obscurity in the New York club scene for
some thirteen years before one of their demos finally caught the attention of
Chaos/Columbia. The band insisted on recording and producing their self-titled
debut in their own recording studio. The album was innovative and defied
categorization, while the single "Chains" managed to get some limited airplay.
By 1995 the grunge movement was in full swing and Collision
compromised their sound to release the disappointing Coarse album. The
band broke up but would later reform as Kollizion for a short time.
Chinboukas is currently a sought after producer in New York while
Kyriazis has done some session work with bands such as The Beatnuts.
